1. Pen Name: 88thParallel (Amanda IRL, 31, F)
2. Fandom: Sherlock (BBC)
3. Rating of the story: T, maybe R?
4. Spoilers/Time Line: Takes place immediately after THoB (2x02)
5. Pairing: Sherlock/John but gen (at this point, anyway...)
6. Beta Type: Any help is appreciated, and desperately needed. I do also need a Brit-picker. Any British military and/or medical and/or wilderness survival knowledge would be incredible, too.
7. Harshness: Constructive criticism only makes things better!
8. Other: Haven't written fic in a decade, getting back to it with Sherlock (I used to write X-Files and Third Watch, and some unpublished Lost). I'm at 25k words so far, thinking it'll clock in around 40k all said and done.
Have some plot holes I'm working on patching, so someone to bounce ideas off of would be great too.
John!Whump, lots of angst and emotional hurt/comfort (bonus of guilty!Sherlock).

2. Fandom: Slam Dunk Anime
3. Rating of the story: NC-17
4. Spoilers/Time Line: Nothing too much except maybe some small references to some events in the anime but nothing major.
5. Pairing: Sendoh/Rukawa and maybe some other minor ones
6. Beta Type: Well, Grammer, spelling, used of words, Characterization, continuity and consistency of the plot and characters, also I'm in desperate need of help in writing sex parts...thought they won't be much.
7. warnings: well, there is mention of rape, dubious consent, and heavy angst.
8. Harshness: 75% would be okay, I guess?
9. Other: This is AU. Sets when Sendoh and Rukawa are working adults.
1. Pen Name:
ARROW (but it’s also a fusion with Spartacus)
3. Rating of the story:
4. Spoilers/Time Line:
There’s probably spoilers in regards to the Spartacus timeline, but there shouldn’t be any spoilers for ARROW.
Oliver Queen/Thea Merlyn & several side pairings.
6. Beta Type:
Primarily I need a beta with expertise in or knowledge of Ancient Rome, to make sure that my story isn’t off in accuracy, but I can always use the typical spelling, plot, and grammar as well.
I have no opinion on this matter.
- In this tale, Oliver and Thea are NOT related.
- I need a beta who will stick with me for the entire length of the story as it is a work in a progress.
- I don’t know how long the entire story will be yet, but the first chapter is approximately 8,500 words in length.
Pen Name: Aelora
How long have you been writing?: A very long time
Rating of the story: Definitely R, if not some NC-17
Pairing: Seblaine (Also some Klaine)
Beta Type: Spelling, grammar, continuity, story, dialogue, characterization (very important!)
Harshness: Fair? I mostly need someone to understand that this is my first foray into the Seblaine ship, and that I haven't written in the Glee fandom in over four years personal attacks.
Other Notes: The story is in present tense, so if that isn't your thing you'll probably hate it. I write in Google docs for easy editing. The fic will be at least 10 chapters, if not closer to 12, depending on what makes sense for the overall story. It takes place during S4 so **it does include cheating**---if that's not your thing. Also, my fics have never been short. So, just a warning.
Name: brnt0fferings (or Deni)
Age: 25 (until I can't pull it off anymore then 26)
Beta/Writer/Lurker?: Lurker long enough to hatch plots big enough for me to write them out.
What do you hope to get out of this Community/look for in a beta?: Some on to look over fics as I finish them before I officially post them on AO3.
Really I think the bones of my fics is good Im just not sure about the execution:
Does it flow/read well? Grammar, should a different phrasing be used to make thing clearer etc
I play with the wording and order allot so edits shouldn't take me long.
If your willing to be a sounding board, help me bounce ideas of you that would be such a huge bonus!
How long have you been writing?: About 4 years now but I have only recently started posting.
Harshness: Im ok with harsh...not downright rude though. If you hate it and it sucks you can tell me but please be constructive, tell me why and what I can do to fix it.
Ill have darker more explicit works later on but Ill give plenty of warning before. For the purpose of this specific post its maybe T just to be safe (language and implied relationships).
Fandoms: I am focusing on Serenity/Firefly right now... Im ridiculously late to this fandom I know (T.T) BUT I really don't think you need to follow the series to be able to beta for me.
What sparks your creativity?: Everything! Music tends to set a tone but all it takes is a line and Ill have a whole rough plot line set out.
Sorry, no LJ-cut, just a link.http://brnt-0fferings.livejournal.com/1866.html
Title: Sleep Cycles
Pairing: Mal/River tones but theres Mal/Inara implied too

Summary: A collection of One-shots that follow Mal around as he wanders around Serenity unable to sleep. Definite Mal/River bent :)

: All three, depending on the fandom. What do you hope to get out of this Community?
: I would like to find a jack-of-all-trades beta, and I'd love to offer my beta services. How long have you been writing/beta-ing?
: Writing fic? 18 years. Beta-ing? 14.What genre of stories to you like to write/beta?
: Anything except: incest (weird Havemercy exception for Rook and Thom), A/B/O (sorry), non/dubcon. I will write or beta literally anything else.Fandoms
: I currently write in (or am writing in, but need said beta): Merlin (BBC), Star Trek (TOS/AOS), Man from U.N.C.L.E., X-Men, Fullmetal Alchemist, Stargate (SG-1/SGA), Supergirl, The Librarians, Chicago Med, No.6, Inception, Gundam Wing, Captive Prince, Brick/Inception crossover, Marvel 616 (MCU sometimes), Smallville, and I can be conned into many other things. Oh, and I mostly write slash. I do also write het, which is apparently Crazy Business.Type of beta
: I've got a JD, so your lawyer fic? I can fix that. I can also fix "magic" (Welsh, Latin) spells. In addition, I've got an English education certification sitting around somewhere, likely to expire soon, and I've spent the last ten years working in mental health. In general, I'm willing to beta anything that doesn't hit my squick list (see above). I beta for spelling/grammar in cases where I don't know the canon, and for characterization and canon as well, in cases where I do.Are there any websites you would like to recommend to us?
: Uh, Google Docs? For me, Google Docs has been the god of beta-ing.Do you have a website you'd like to show us?
: None you probably haven't seen already. Maybe the Massachusetts statute-finder site, but really, no one wants that. What sparks your creativity?
: Everything. Largely show-related things, but I have a somewhat profound obsession with domesticity. Whoops.
Sorry, no LJ-cut, just a link.
Fandom: Merlin (BBC)

Name: Jane Fairfax
Beta/Writer/Lurker?: N00B writer (but I consider myself primarly a reader)
Fandom: BBC Sherlock
What do you hope to get out of this Community?: The beta I was working with (with much satisfaction) its very busy IRL lately so she can't help me, so I'm searching for a second beta to work with. If in future my first beta will regain a bit of free time to beta for me again, I'd like to work with both betas at the same time.
Since I'm not a native english speaker, I need a beta whom at least will correct all the english grammar mistakes and the flowing of the sentences. General imputs on the story like continuity checks, structure changes, style or whatever you think it's needed will be very welcome as bonus. Brit-picking would be the cherry on top but it's not mandatory.
I don't have problems with (polite) strictness, but please be aware that sometimes I could not follow some of the advices, sometimes because I disagree, most times because I'm still not able to do better. Anyway I have thick skin and a strong sense of reality (I don't fancy myself a good writer) so it'll be very hard to annoy me.
I'm not a fast writer and I'm pretty chill, so I will not pester you to finish to correct my stories in a few days.
How long have you been writing?: Less than a year.
What genre of stories do you like to write: I write kinky dark sh*t (the "standard" dark kind, not the very dark kind), so I need a beta whom is ok with this kind of content. We can speak about what are our squicks via mp, so no one has bad surprises later (I don't write underage).
My AO3 profile:http://archiveofourown.org/users/Jane_Fairfax/profile
Hi, I need a beta for several stories, some already posted on my LJ, others WIP.
English is my second language and I started writing in 2014.
My earlier stories need a lot of revision (head hoping and bad formating, for example) but I am trying to improve.
Basically, I need someone with time and patience to help me see what I'm doing wrong and what I can/should improve. I can provide all the stories in word doc format.
This is an example of a more recent one-shot: http://minesomine.livejournal.com/72362.html
It's an HP inspired story with K-pop characters.
1. Pen name: minesomine
2. Fandom: K-pop DBSK/JYJ and HP
3. Rating of the story: From PC-13 to NC-17
4. Spoilers/Time Line: I prefer to ignore HP's epilogue
5. Pairing: Harry/Draco and multiple pairings for K-pop
6. Beta Type: Grammar, pontuation, construction sentence, plot, flow
7. Harshness: Thick skin, no worries.
Though I'm on the lookout for a beta who knows Suits canon, so if that's you and you're interested, please drop me a PM. :)
Name: twistofapen Beta/Writer/Lurker?: Writer, have beta-ed occasionally How long have you been writing/beta-ing?: Used to write often about five years back, but stopped and only now aiming to get back into fandom. Fandom: Suits Pairing: Harvey/Mike Rating: PG-13 I’m looking for a beta for a 3k Suits slash fic. No knowledge of the show is needed as my fic is short and I'm aware Suits is a relatively small fandom now, especially on LJ. I’m just looking for someone to look for technical issues, particularly SpaG and pacing problems. If you are a Suits fan, awesome! This fic is based off a Season 5 episode (Blowback). Unfortunately, I've got no examples of previous work as all my old fic was on a now-purged ff.net account. A harsh beta is not a problem, I’m not easily offended. All critique would be appreciated. Comment or PM if interested, and thank you in advance!
How long have you been writing: I’ve been in fandom for about ten years, but haven’t published any stories in years so I’ve lost contact with my old betas. I’ve recently started writing again so I’m looking for some help to mainly Brit-pick and look over any grammar issues.
What genre of stories to you like to write/beta?: BBC Sherlock (Johnlock)
More specifically, I’m looking for a beta-reader in the Sherlock (Johnlock) fandom. I’m looking for someone to look over my grammar and brit-pick an explicit post-S4 Johnlock-fic (2.7K)
If you have time to give more elaborate feedback on plot, style, characterisation etc. that would be excellent (but not necessary).
I’m not a prolific writer, so this can be a one-time thing, but if I write more in the future and you are willing, maybe we can get together again. I’m also willing to beta your work in return.
What I’m looking for from a beta:
-You love BBC Sherlock and especially Johnlock. You’ll enjoy the experience more and this way we already have something in common :)
- You are +25 years old. Age is just a number, but in this case, I’d like someone who is closer to my age (which is 32), so we are not from completely different universes.
- You can brit-pick (you don’t have to be British, just have a good knowledge of BrEnglish)
If you’re interested, message me at @pallojaketju (Tumblr or LJ)
